Actually, I don't know what should I blog about. I don't particularly have the blogging mood either. I just feel like I have to blog so that in the future I could reminisce about this period of time in my life. I suppose it would be a pity if I couldn't remember how I've grown up. Some would rely on their memory but I don't trust mine haha.
In fact, after started my first full-time job ever, I've learned a lot. The most notable would be I'm willing to pick up anonymous phone calls lol. #Truestory.
Some may already knew that I don't like to pick up phone calls, especially when I don't know who's the caller is. I used to think that the reason was because I wanted to avoid scam calls but now I know that it's just one of the traits of an introvert. I just don't like to deal with unpredictable situations coz I don't know how to react spontaneously.
So, whenever there's an anonymous call I'll just ignore it, even if the person repeatedly call several times (sorry lol). The first day of working was a nightmare! Yeah, you guessed it. I had to answer phone calls (and make phone calls too)! Out of my great sense of responsibility, I literally 硬着头皮 forced myself to pick up the phone. Calling customers are even harder because I'm the one who's taking the initiative =.= Calling suppliers are still okay though coz most of the time the suppliers are more than happy to receive our calls haha.
Now my telephonophobia improved but I still don't like to answer phone calls haha. I'll still stay as far away from the phone as possible so that I wouldn't have to answer lol. But at least if some stranger calls my own handphone I'll answer. I really really hate to use the phone. Can't blame me coz sometimes the line is not good and it makes it an even more unpleasant experience when you have a hard time getting what the person on the other side of the phone said. BTW, I hate those customers who get frustrated when this happens. Firstly, it's not my fault also and secondly, YOU are the one who's asking help from me!
Now I've overcome the fear (almost) of making and receiving phone calls. I've learned to reduce my anxiety by writing down what to say before I make a phone call. I've also learned how to manage unpredictable phone calls. So, I guess this is quite a big improvement lol.
Besides that, I'm also gradually learning how to have small talk. I always know that although small talks are meaningless, it's still quite an important/useful skill. But bear in mind I still suck at it! lol. Come on, I don't even express my love and care towards my loved ones (except my dog). I don't usually small talk unless I'm in a really good mood and the person whom I talk to makes me feel comfortable. But I sure am impressed by myself whenever I succeed in performing a small talk lol!
I'm also more confident in my driving skills now! Although sometimes I still drive quite recklessly lol. I actually like to drive the old Mercedes now. It makes me feel safe driving recklessly o.O The only downside is quite hard to park the car! Anyway, I'm grateful enough that my dad allowed me to use the car like my own car. This way I don't have to spend my money to buy a new car (try to postpone having liability as long as possible). My dad is the best dad although he doesn't express his love by words <3. I have to find my way to earn money as fast as possible!
BTW I think those who are working as sales assistant in the pharmacy (including me!) are quite tolerant of stress. I used to think that it's no big deal we'll just have to learn how to multitask between serving customers, cashiering, calling customers/suppliers, receiving/tagging/arranging stocks, checking documents, etc.... until we had a "new colleague". It's a funny story, really.
So near the end of September, an Indian girl who's around 20 years old came looking for job. When she came for interview we were all there and we all thought that there's a high possibility that she will be hired (for some reason our boss doesn't want to hire Indians and that's why we are so lack of staff). She said the place she worked at before this didn't pay her for a few months and that's why she decided to leave. She seemed like she could endure tough work so our boss gave her handphone number. We were quite happy because finally WE CAN HAZ LESS WORK TO DO!
The second week of October she showed up. I had some small talk with her in front of the shop because the shop opened late (as usual). She told me she studied cabin crew course but she had to postpone her training because of her mother's health issues. She worked in Sentosa Specialist Centre as a receptionist for a year but decided to quit because they didn't pay her a few months already. She also told me that she had to learn a lot of things and now she already know how to do a lot of things (I had to emphasize this sentence that she said). That moment I thought: Hmm... Sounds like this girl is quite suitable to work in our pharmacy...
I've never been so wrong.
Once the shop opened, I was asked to teach her how to count poison. This is a task given to every new staff in our pharmacy. Well, normally when we sell any controlled poison (medicines), we have to record down in books. However, we don't usually do it because it's inconvenient. So, for legal purposes, we have to count the balance of the poisons and write the patient's names and addresses to tally up the balance in the books. The new staff seemed to have a hard time though. I remember it's quite an easy for task for me. Maybe because I had some advantage because I do have pharmacy knowledge.
I patiently taught her everything. I genuinely think I'm very nice liao compared to how my colleague guided me last time. Sometimes I caught her standing there helplessly when I was serving customers but I was busy so couldn't help. When the boss came in, she gave the new staff a lot of new stuff to learn until I also feel worried for the new staff lol. The boss asked me to teach her how to transfer stocks to other pharmacies and how to check invoices and how to serve customers... which also gave me a lot of stress and drained my energy a lot! I don't know why boss gave me the responsibility to teach the new staff T.T
She seemed willing to learn but sometimes I think she's also not that willing to learn hahaha coz sometimes she just stands there doing nothing (at least observe what people do mah).
Anyway, the ending was the girl went back home for lunch and never came back. LOL. Apparently she sent a message to boss saying that she's not suitable for this job. Boss 看错人了 this time lol. Boss said she sounded like she could endure hardships during her interview lol.
Well, I wrote this long story just to praise myself of my perseverance and ability to handle stress lol. Nah seriously, I sometimes think that I'm not that good in handling stress compared to some people. I think I don't like to put myself in stress (unhealthy!). But it's good to know that when it's inevitable to face the stress, I could endure through it if I want to.
It's October now, which means DRAMA SEASONS! Many of my favourite English/Americans shows premiering with their new seasons. It made me miss my before-work life more :(
BTW, I think my internet is being throttled. Streaming movies and downloading torrents appear to be extremely slow while watching videos on YouTube or other websites are smooth. Arghh I can't seem to find a way to counter it!
Oh I would love to get a Samsung Galaxy Note 5! My SII has been lagging for ages and always embarrass me during critical times (eg. Trying to use the camera to snap important stuff while customer waiting). I have the money to buy now but being a kiamsiap person I'm thinking to wait until the next Note 6 is out lol. I could buy other phones but I only want Note 5! Note 5 is so prettay!
Alright, time to go back to study! That's right. As a pharmacist, you don't get to bid farewell to studying after you graduate. It's forever studying. WTF.
