I'm a research student now.

Hoo... So I'm officially a final year pharmacy student now... And soon going to do research in the IMU research lab! Normally we look at lecturers and postgraduate students who work in the research lab like they're from a higher hierarchical level (well, they ARE). From what I've known, there are some other groups that don't get to work in the research lab and they have to work in the lower grade MDL labs instead! :P So... Quite proud lah haha... but mostly it's because of our supervisor who got us workbenches in the research lab lah nothing to do with our capabilities or what hehe. However, working in the research labs with those high-tech instruments comes with great responsibilities and risks T.T   We are going to use the homogeniser which costs RM 90k and the zetasizer which costs RM 200k   =___=  The past experience of my housemate who nearly broke a centrifuge worth RM 20k made me even scared of using those expensive instruments!

Anyway, one day my mum read from the newspaper that cough that wouldn't go away might indicates lung cancer so she said better go check lol. So my dad brought me to see a doctor who is sort of a specialist and I did lung X-ray. Before I went I was seriously paranoid that I might have cancer =__= Just like last time when there was an outbreak of SARS and I had to go to the doctor because I had fever =___= OMG I even kind of imagined what would my reaction be when I find out I have cancer then proceeded to think that my life already so meaningless why not just have cancer and die. Then I think I cried. LOL Well doesn't matter now since the doctor said my lung is perfectly fine, eh?

The doctor gave me asthma medicines though! Said the cough might be caused by allergy which I was not surprised at all. What I was kind of surprised was that he gave me medicines for ASTHMA. Sounds like quite serious like that but I guess it's common hahaha. He gave me Ventolin, prednisolone and cough syrup (the cough syrup is not really necessary I think :X) Being a pharmacy student I'm kind of reluctant to take corticosteroid, knowing all the side effects that it will cause in long term. But then, no choice haiz the doctor told me to try for one week first then see how it goes. I also think that the Ventolin caused my hands to shake! I hope I won't have to take it anymore when I start doing my research! LOL This reminds me of an event happened few semesters ago.

Once I was weighing something in front of a lecturer and a group of course mates and I was literally shaking! Maybe I was nervous haha. Then when I was pouring the thing into an instrument, I dropped the whole plastic thingy that contained the thing into the instrument =__= And had to call the lab technician to take it out. Then, the lecturer was kind of like angry? She asked me why my hand like that, I said sometimes my hands will shake. Then she told me with a very serious tone that during Semester 7 don't choose lab-based research, choose survey instead. Funny thing is, the lecturer is my supervisor now!!! LOL I don't think she remembers this.

Speaking of which, I think we've chosen the right lecturer lol. Still remember last time we (me and HY) hesitated so long coz the lecturer warned us that she might scold us kao kao if we do inexcusable things during our research. And from how we've known her from her lectures in the early semesters, she didn't seem like good in explaining things. So we were skeptical about her capability to help us in our research :X But I guess we chose the right lecturer then! So far, she was very helpful compared to other lecturers that I've heard of and she even helped to check our proposal! FYI, there are 8 of us in the group! I think this is the largest number of students under one lecturer! We don't even have a co-supervisor lol. And the JC committee approved our research which means they think our supervisor can handle us well?

If I'm not wrong, we are the group that finished doing our proposal earliest =___= That's good coz I feel kind of "shuang" seeing my fellow housemates stress over proposal lol.

Haih, overall Semester 7 seems like less stressful than other semesters that have final examinations. Coz I don't have to keep telling myself to study every day. But now have to keep doing literature review lol. Anyway, I'm excited to start doing lab work! But fear of doing literature review for dissertation lol!
